Sports Premium
The Primary PE and Sports Premium began in the academic year 2013 to 2014 when the government announced that it was to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools in England.
This funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools
The Purpose of the Sports Premium Grant
Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education (PE), physical activity and sports we offer.
This means that school should use the premium to:
- develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport activities that school already provides
- build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in the future.
Effective ways in which schools can use the premium
- increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
- increased engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
- raising the profile of PE and sport across the school to support whole school improvement
- offer a broader experience of a range of sports and activities to all pupils
- increased participation in competitive sport
How are we building sustainable improvement?
- Teachers and Teaching Assistants will have access to high quality Continued Professional Development (CPD) sessions delivered by specialist teachers from Live & Learn.
- Continued provision of free before and after school clubs for all pupils from F2 to Year 6
- Provision of free Multi-Sports Holiday Club delivered by specialist teachers from Live & Learn
- Attend at various inter-school sports competitions throughout the academic year (transport included).
- Maintenance of all PE and Sporting equipment to a high standard, in line with Safe Practice in Physical Education and Sport
